Went to the Wabash Valley River ride to day with my son and he pulled his 5yr old daughter on a tag a long for 33.75 miles and boy it was a warm day for sure. Got home and a big storm came through and caught some of the stragglers trying to finish.

Went to Wis. this week for the Door county PAW, Pedal across Wis. ride and rode 5 days for 232.144. Most miles i have ever ridden in a weeks time. Was 125 other riders there also from 15 states and Canada. Was a great week and did not get wet either.

2nd week this year i have had over 100 miles.:) Over a 1000 for the year and 2293 on my new to me recumbent sense Labor day last fall. Going to Wis, tomorrow for the PAW Door county tour with son and his wife.

She did 5 laps last year and 8 laps this year. She also did the 8 in less time than the 5 of last year. I also did 11 laps on the track. Were lots of other folks riding also.

What a beautiful day in Indiana. Rode as a group of 8 from Indy to Franklin. Stopped for a stoker-poty break, then cranked the big ring till we caught up to the pack. Nice ride of 46.5 miles on the tandem. Then we adjusted and re-adjusted our new recumbent. It is a Tomohawk and I named him Black Bart. Tom would have been more logical, but I llike the sound of Black Bart better. I was more than a bit shakey during the launch, but feeling quite comfortable after 7 miles. This is our first recumbent and I really like it. Bikes are FUN.

and said hi to several guys in a row, that I didn't recognize!! I ride 20-30 miles daily on the trail-my favorite part is NO cars!
To Everyone that wants a fun ride--Sat., July 27 is the Great Greenway Tour. You can ride north from Muncie to Gaston or south to Richmond. Muncie also has paved trails that connect along the river. There are SAG stops along the way, and even a bike shop at Medford (7 miles south of Muncie) and also one closer to Richmond. The cost is $30 til July 8th. You get a t-shirt, catered lunch, & food at the SAG stops. You can ride as far or as little as you want. I volunteer at the depot for registration and at the lunch tent every year.

Went over to Indy 500 track and watched my 4 yr old grandaughter ride 5 laps around the track for the Tour De Cure yesterday. I went out this am for a 30 mile ride as i had rode any for 5 days.
Take one day off, sent to page 4! Going to hit some more miles tomorrow.

Wanted to do the B&O taril ride but with rain around we did nit make the trip over. The weather has not been very nice for riding latey as so dang much wind and rain. Got out today for a 17 mile ride.
Did the 25 mile route of the B&O ride today with some friends. We got underway as the morning storms were clearing the area, so we only had to deal with wind and some light rain. Skies cleared up for the last 30 minutes and let us eat in comfort before the clouds rolled in again.

Michael Packer we have another ride on June 15th at 9:30am and going to be riding up to Muncie from the Losantville parking area and back. Trying to have 1 ride a month on that trail. Yes it is a great trail with very little traffic.

I went over to the Cardinal Green Way Trail in eastern Indiana today and rode with 6 guys from all over the place on trikes and 2 bents. 4 of us got in 33 miles and the 3 got in a little more as they rode up to the start point and then rode back to there starting going with us so they got a little bit more. Turned out to be a beautiful day for a ride.
Third week in a row to ride my 32 mi round trip commute to work. I've only missed one day since April 29th! Hoping to get next week in as well. I teach, and school's last day is next Friday!
Helped serve breakfast to students who rode to school, 85 of them I think! We had been in that school Tuesday to teach bike safety and give helmets to 3rd graders.
Flat tire today cut down on my mileage but was still a wonderful day.
Got out for a 15 mile ride this after noon. Wind was 16 from sw, sunny and 83.
I commute 21 miles round trip throughout the year. I'm always interested in comparing notes with other commuters. I've got a 1997 TREK 2100 road bike which I've attached fenders and a rack to. I've learned to cope with most situations, but getting a little tired of chain cleaning and lubing required when riding in wet conditions. Also, getting some corrosion on the aluminum frame. I ride as long as there is no snow/ice on the road, and not raining too hard. I've learned that rain isn't that bad if it's not too cold. I've ridden down to 3F this year, and I was dressed well so was comfortable.
Completed my 14th Tour of the Scioto River Valley (TOSRV.ORG) over the weekend, 213 miles in two days with 1,800 other riders. Great ride under interesting, but dry, weather conditions. Now back to regular riding.

I moved to Indiana within the past year, and somehow the interface has moved me to bicycle indiana where I registered this year, but I am not showing up in the rankings. Which makes sense because my miles and points are adding to my 2013 miles and points.

Got out today with and old class mate who was home from China for a visit as he has been a teacher for several years and has retired and is now going to do some traveling around Asia. Rode for 21 mile and almost got caught in a big ole thunderstorm that popped up.

We did a night ride of 17 miles and them on Saturday we rode 38 miles on another one of the trails. This spring ride is a 3 day Fri. Sat.Sun meet and greet ride at Xenia. Met up with folks from Pa,Wis,Ill, Mich,Ind. Had a great time.

He has been to the dr. and also went to the hospital for a few day as he had an infection in his lower tract. So i took him on a 5 mile loop that i do and he felt good after 1 lap that we did 2 more for a 15 mile ride and he felt good when we got done. We got done before the rain came also.

I would have ridden further but i forgot my drink bottles that i had filled and sitting on the counter at home so i just cut it shorter than if i had of taken my drinks. Sure was windy also and 73 degs when i got back home intime for lunch.

Got out today with my son and 4 yr old grand daughter for a 10 mile ride. She rides on a tag-a-long. Little breezy from the SE and sunny and 52.
Way too many snow commutes lately, I am ready for the warm up. But yes wasn't really an issue this morning.
Today was my first commute in snow. Thanks to ICS for the full-fender installation I didn't bat an eye. However I was surprised by how heavily the Cultural Trail was salted in spots. Today was a mere dusting and could have been cleared with a broom. Not to mention that it will all be gone by noon.

Have not ridden sense Jan. 14 it seems as its been so slick and cold out. Not looking good for this month at all now as a big storm and high winds and 8 to 12 inches of snow is being called for starting tomorrow.

Went to Fla. last week and just got home. Rode bike for 73 miles while down there. Met up with some folks in the neighborhood where i was staying and went out with them on the Sun Coast trail and was a nice trail to ride on for sure.
Was another cool sunny day here so went out with my son for a 23 mile ride.
Was another beautiful day in my neck of the woods. Went out rode for 16 mile with a 10mph breese from sse so had a nice push on the way back home.
Got out for another short ride today of 10 miles with temps at 40 and a slight breeze at 10mph. It was nice and sunny so that did help some.
Well i got the bike out today,but wished i had of got it out yesterday also. O well. Got in a 10.3 mile ride around the neighborhood of gently rolling speed bumps.puts me at 110.9 for the year. No slick spots as roads are clear. Slight breeze today at 12 from the sw and 37 degs.
It was the first time dealing with ice/snow on the trail in my many years of commuting. Granted, it wasn't a lot, but when you see the path covered ice, twinkling in the street lights, it's rather intimidating.

Just finished two days at the Hilly! Late start of 11:00 a.m made Saturday chilly but not wet at least, and blue skies at the end. Today was beautiful perfect fall weather. Oh, and I made it up Mt. Tabor again!

Got out today with a neighbor guy i met one day while out and he does not ride very far yet. He had a stint put in his heart last year and just picked up an old mountain bike. So i have been riding maybe 4 to 6 miles with him and then i do a little bit more. Got hunting to do also so not the milage i have been doing but still trying to get some done.

Went down to Hope Indiana for the annual Hope ride again. Got in a 28 mile ride with a couple of friends. Heard there was 2000 or so riding today and was never out of anyones sight all day. Great day for a ride. Gave me 99 for the week.

What someone (me) will do to keep a consecutive ride streak going! Rode 26 miles yesterday and 21 today--all in the rain. That work "thing" determines when I can ride. But, the streak is still going at 106 days!

Was going out for a ride but checked the weather and rain was a coming so i got in a 10 mile ride close to home. Rain never came at all. But a short ride is better than none at all.

91.4 degrees at the end of our ride today. I weighed pre & post ride and lost 3.6 pounds. I drank about 40 oz of ice water on the 44.7 mile ride. 9 riders showed today.

Just finished the Old Kentucky Home Tour, 2 days of riding for a total of 157 miles, including the legendary Pottershop Century on Saturday. Great ride!

We had a great workout today with a strong west wind. Good shake-down ride for MTR next weekend. Most of our miles are in the country and it is interesting to see the crops go through their cycles. We had a good omen at the start of the ride as a beautiful young deer ran in front of us. Only one stupid driver today. I signaled and took the lane as we approached a stop sign at a train track crossing. There was an oncomming cyclist on the far side of the tracks, but the driver passed us anyway. She ran the stop sign on the rong side of the road as she drove between the bicycles in the middle of the rough tracks.....Perfect example of PFB (POOP-For Brains.)

Great time at the WRCC Wabash River Ride - 102 miles with a great group of friends, Then had another great time touring around West Lafayette with my wife. Did not realize how much climbing our daily commutes involved back in the day.

Took my bent to the Wabash River Ride at Lafayette and got in a 47.5 mile ride today. Think they said there was 400+ there today. Saw 1 trike and 1 other bent. Hit 32mph on a down hill near the end of the ride. Was a beautiful day for the ride.

Just had time for a short ride today so, Black Bart got out for a ride around the block. Our block is 11.4 miles around and Recumbent miles are not easy miles right now. I know a bike is a bike, is a bike, but getitng bent takes some practice. It sure works the quads from a different direction.

Thanks to the Break Away Bicycle Club of Kokomo for a great job on Sizzling Century yesterday. Great time on the century ride with friends, and the 100 miles helped me catch up in the standings. Now on to the WRCC - Wabash River Ride next weekend!

Went to Chicago lake front trail along Lake Michigan and rode from the north end so south end and back for 42.89. 4 others went with me. Stopped by and saw the giant bean again. Rode out on navy pier and watch some of the big air show that was going on also. Great day for riding except the crowd was jigantic and had to walk for maybe 2 miles as folks were so thick.

Just a remender that the Great Greenway Tour is this Saturday. Registration starts at 7 AM, and continues throughout the day at the Depot in Muncie. There is over 50 miles of continuous paved trail that makes for a wonderful ride. Snacks & lunch are provided. Info at GREATGREENWAYTOUR.ORG

Light rain this morning @ 72 f . Plenty of road-spray. One rider turned back, but 4 of us finished our M/W/F ride to Franklin and back. We watched the heavy rain and zig-zaged around it. Just a constant, light mist, but otherwise happy ride. 5 min to wipe down the tandem and feeling very good that we rode today. Not a good feeling to punk-out and miss a ride. After all, under my shorts and jersey I have a waterproof suit.

Light rain this morning @ 72 f . Plenty of road-spray. One rider turned back, but 4 of us finished our M/W/F ride to Franklin and back. We watched the heavy rain and zig-zaged around it. Just a constant, light mist, but otherwise happy ride. 5 min to wipe down the tandem and feeling very good that we rode today. Not a good feeling to punk-out and miss a ride. After all, under my shorts and jersey I have a waterproof suit.
Just a remender that the Great Greenway Tour is this Saturday. Registration starts at 7 AM, and continues throughout the day at the Depot in Muncie. There is over 50 miles of continuous paved trail that makes for a wonderful ride. Snacks & lunch are provided. Info at GREATGREENWAYTOUR.ORG

Early this afternoon finished a 15 mile loosening up ride to cap out a 700+ mile week. Several of you probably have heard of and/or ridden the Ride Across Indiana (RAIN). 160+ mile across the state form Terre Haute to Richmond in one day, mostly along US Hwy-40. This would have been my 4th year for that event but to challenge myself that I was back fully after last year's pulverized collarbone I did RAINSTORM. Each of the 5 days preceding the RAIN, up to 50 riders travel from Richmond to Terre Haute and then on day 6, ride back by participating in RAIN with the other 1400 riders or so. . 100 or more miles each day and then the 163 on Saturday. Thank God the routes end at nice hotels and State Park Inns each night with pools, hot tubs, and soft beds! Highly recommended for those with an "Ultra" bent.

What a nice break from constantly battling a headwind. Back in plenty of time to watch le Tour de France. Happy for Sagan, sad for Cav.

20.54 miles today, non stop. Good flatter route than most of mine. Time to think and just ride. Lost a deer hunting buddy last night. MC and deer collision. 45 years old, young family. What a loss. Ride SAFE everyone! I stuck a 14x18 US flag on the back of my bike to ride state roads. Seemed to make a big difference being seen. Almost all was totally in the passing lane going around. God Bless!

Keep at it, Steve! I think I clocked in at 40 minutes for a 7 mile ride when I started commuting to work a few years ago. Pretty soon you'll have to *make* some new holes in your belt to keep the pants up. :D

Started raining and thundering, once again. It has rained here (Central Indiana) every day for almost a week now! Sure is putting a damper on my cycling!
A little discouraged (GASP......HERECY!! :-) ) Age 60, started June 13 (after 45 year lay off LOL), 40 lb comfort/hybrid, platform pedals, tennis shoes. 8 spd Nexus gearing. Upgraded (I think?) to butterfly bars. 15 workouts in 20 days, weather not so great and still working on stamina.....and that's where the discouragement comes in. Six miles in 35-40 min is about average so far. 8 and 10 mile rides werent so bad but tired as all get out the next day. Workouts ALL have some decent hills in them, kinda on purpose. Weight loss / health reasons to start riding and the weight loss is going fine. No clue on lbs but down 2 holes on my belt so far. Not the best bike for much longer rides and realize I HAVE TO drop some more weight to be very efficient at all and it will come but I WANT IT NOW! ROFL! Not shooting for a century ride with this set up but I've got a 40 plus miler for my summer goal. Rain and tired legs.....IN A SLUMP! Hate resting!! I WANNA RIDE!

Went to Wis. this week for the Door county PAW, Pedal across Wis. ride and rode 5 days for 232.144. Most miles i have ever ridden in a weeks time. Was 125 other riders there also from 15 states and Canada. Was a great week and did not get wet either.
Between the rain this week and the holiday vacation next week, I'm going to be out of the saddle quite a bit. I don't know if I can make it!

2nd week this year i have had over 100 miles.:) Over a 1000 for the year and 2293 on my new to me recumbent sense Labor day last fall. Going to Wis, tomorrow for the PAW Door county tour with son and his wife.

What a beautiful day in Indiana. Rode as a group of 8 from Indy to Franklin. Stopped for a stoker-poty break, then cranked the big ring till we caught up to the pack. Nice ride of 46.5 miles on the tandem. Then we adjusted and re-adjusted our new recumbent. It is a Tomohawk and I named him Black Bart. Tom would have been more logical, but I llike the sound of Black Bart better. I was more than a bit shakey during the launch, but feeling quite comfortable after 7 miles. This is our first recumbent and I really like it. Bikes are FUN.

and said hi to several guys in a row, that I didn't recognize!! I ride 20-30 miles daily on the trail-my favorite part is NO cars!
To Everyone that wants a fun ride--Sat., July 27 is the Great Greenway Tour. You can ride north from Muncie to Gaston or south to Richmond. Muncie also has paved trails that connect along the river. There are SAG stops along the way, and even a bike shop at Medford (7 miles south of Muncie) and also one closer to Richmond. The cost is $30 til July 8th. You get a t-shirt, catered lunch, & food at the SAG stops. You can ride as far or as little as you want. I volunteer at the depot for registration and at the lunch tent every year.

Did the 25 mile route of the B&O ride today with some friends. We got underway as the morning storms were clearing the area, so we only had to deal with wind and some light rain. Skies cleared up for the last 30 minutes and let us eat in comfort before the clouds rolled in again.

I went over to the Cardinal Green Way Trail in eastern Indiana today and rode with 6 guys from all over the place on trikes and 2 bents. 4 of us got in 33 miles and the 3 got in a little more as they rode up to the start point and then rode back to there starting going with us so they got a little bit more. Turned out to be a beautiful day for a ride.
Third week in a row to ride my 32 mi round trip commute to work. I've only missed one day since April 29th! Hoping to get next week in as well. I teach, and school's last day is next Friday!
Helped serve breakfast to students who rode to school, 85 of them I think! We had been in that school Tuesday to teach bike safety and give helmets to 3rd graders.
Flat tire today cut down on my mileage but was still a wonderful day.

I commute 21 miles round trip throughout the year. I'm always interested in comparing notes with other commuters. I've got a 1997 TREK 2100 road bike which I've attached fenders and a rack to. I've learned to cope with most situations, but getting a little tired of chain cleaning and lubing required when riding in wet conditions. Also, getting some corrosion on the aluminum frame. I ride as long as there is no snow/ice on the road, and not raining too hard. I've learned that rain isn't that bad if it's not too cold. I've ridden down to 3F this year, and I was dressed well so was comfortable.
Completed my 14th Tour of the Scioto River Valley (TOSRV.ORG) over the weekend, 213 miles in two days with 1,800 other riders. Great ride under interesting, but dry, weather conditions. Now back to regular riding.
Anyone that wants quality miles on rural roads with a group of very friendly, layed-back riders is welcome to join us on the CIBA SE Trainer ride 9 am at the Creek Church on S. Franklin Road. Short =32, Med=38-42, long=42-54 miles. 9 riders this morning. We ride at whatever pace the group wants to ride. No one gets dropped.

Today was my first commute in snow. Thanks to ICS for the full-fender installation I didn't bat an eye. However I was surprised by how heavily the Cultural Trail was salted in spots. Today was a mere dusting and could have been cleared with a broom. Not to mention that it will all be gone by noon.

Went to Fla. last week and just got home. Rode bike for 73 miles while down there. Met up with some folks in the neighborhood where i was staying and went out with them on the Sun Coast trail and was a nice trail to ride on for sure.

It was the first time dealing with ice/snow on the trail in my many years of commuting. Granted, it wasn't a lot, but when you see the path covered ice, twinkling in the street lights, it's rather intimidating.

Well for the last ride of the year i got in a 10 mile ride around the area. Temps in the mid to upper 30s for my area. Snow just started to fall here about 20 minutes ago. Got in 2685.843 for this year my best ever.

Looked like the streets were clear enough to go for a ride but when i got down and around the corner it was very rough and slick in a few spots so only got in 5 miles. My face got cold also. as it was almost dark.

Am in a holding pattern today as roads are to slick for me to go out. It they get melted off in a day or so i will venture out for a ride.
Got out again today for a 21 mile ride with light winds and temps around 43. Partly over cast with a few peeks of sun. Rain coming in tomorrow they saying so not looking for any riding with maybe some snow following the rain. :(
Went out today and rode 20 with a wind at 12 from the wsw and the temp at 53.

Bar Mitts! I got a pair on ebay for $20 that had been used twice. I have one pair of gloves that are really thin and hands start to get cold below 50. Even this week with those gloves and the Bar Mitts my fingers haven't even felt the first bit of cold in them. And I did ride all week so the two mornings that were 21 and 23.
I'm thinking about looking into some snowmobile gloves for these 20° mornings. This is the first time I've extended the commuting season into December.
Well today is 12-12-12 so i went out and rode for 12 miles.:)
Rode to work and back, 61 miles total, 2nd week in a row to ride 3 times to work. It was 31 this morning and a chillly 46 when I biked home
Got up to 46 here in my neck of the woods and got out for a 22 mile ride this afternoon. Not much wind and what there was gave me a push back home which is always good. Gives me 3603.8 for the year so far.
Was a nice cool day for a bike ride as my toes got a little chilly. I should have put on my wool socks. Got in a 15 mile ride around the neighborhood. At least the wind was almost nothing. Am wondering how many more riding days i will have this year.
Was very windy in my neighborhood today so i kept close to home and got in a 14 mile ride.
Got out today with my son and got in a 34 miler. Wind was 19mph out of the south so we managed to ride out into it mostly and then had a good push for the most part back home. Now have a ride in all 12 mths this year. and looks like we mits have some good riding left yet. Temps were at 61 when we got back home. Got some rain tomorrow i been hearing.
Got out again today for an 18 mile ride all by myself. There was a 14mph wind from the south west so was nice going out , but head wind coming back.
Haven't been out for a few days as been busy and colder also and windy. Got out today and got in a 12 mile ride around the neighborhood. Still windy but was out of the wind most of the time.

Just got back from a 31 mile ride with son and grand daughter. It was nice going down wind for the first 20 and then all the rest was into the wind. Its a beautiful day in my neighborhood. My temp gage is showing 80 degs.
No riding today as it has rained most all of the day.
Got a late start today but did get in a 16 mile ride with son and 3yr grandaughter in a trailer. Got back home just before the rain and winds hit.

Got out this am with my son. He started out before i got out of the woods and got in a 32 miler and i met him out on the ride and got in 16. Got some rain and storms coming over the horizon now. The winds were out of sse at start but time we got done it was much out of the s at 15.
I have a trainer that i ride at home when i cain't get out. Got a great deal at Sears 2 years ago as they were almost giving them away and the wife rides it also. I try to get out and ride every day i can. Am not a fast ride but i get done when back at home.. Keep on peddling folks.
Well today my son says lets go for a ride. I am not going as its too windy. But i get ready and we battle the wind out for 15 miles and then have a nice tail wind pushing us back home. So got home with 30 on the speedometer.
I got out today and got in a 17 mile ride. It was only 54degs. so was nice and cool for a ride and a nice tail wind going east but heck coming back home.
Lori, I agree on the inside riding. been going to Y to ride when I absolutely have to, but will ride outside as long as I can.
Luci, Congrats on the 1000 mile mark!! That is awsome for just starting out! The trick is to ride as late into the year and start as early in the Spring as you can so it doesn't feel like you're staring over again at riding next year. That's what I've been "trying" to do the past few years. I've found indoor winter cyling is too boring for me, so I have to brave the cold!!!
Well i had a disc golf tourney to play today and finished 3rd. Got no riding in either as soon as i got home went and sat in a tree stand waiting on some deer to walk by and no deer came by but was great just sitting and watching the world pass by. :)
Congrats Luci!! Remember to not compare yourself to those who seemingly do more. You are amazing! We all started somewhere and most not as great as 1000 from May to Oct. nor by bieng a grandma already either. You must be a young grandma and cycling will keep you young longer!
Luci Congrats on makeing it to 1000 miles. That a lot of riding in 5 mths. I started in Jan this year and passed 3119 so far this year. Not a good day today for riding as it rained most all of it. So if i don't get some riding in tomorrow its gonna be a short week for me.
Have to post a milestone for this grandma who just started riding mid May...I exceeded 1000 total miles today. Maybe not a big number for some, but I am very proud.
Well yesterday was not a riding day as it rained most of it here and was windy also. Today is not looking much better.
Lori I wish we could expand the one that has been started locally here but it not looking good. Yes we love that trail and have ridden on it 3 times now but it is a long drive from here.. We have started at Losantville and go to Muncie for lunch and back and also we rode to Richmond one time for lunch there also. 3 more miles and i will have 3100 for this year and most i have ever ridden also. Keep on riding folks.
Charles, So glad you enjoyed the Cardinal Greenway. We are so blessed to have it here. I volunteer for several of their events. I ride south every day from Muncie on it. I met my usual yearly goal of 5,000 miles yesterday on it. The Challenge inspired me to ride so much harder and longer that I should be able to get another 1,000 in before bad weather stops me this year. Happy riding everyone.

Sorry we didn't know sooner as we mite have, but we went over and rode 37 miles on the Cardinal Greenway Trail over on the eastern part of the state. It goes from Richmond In. to up north of Muncie and is a very nice trail. This is the 3rd time we have gone there this year.

Just got back from a 39.35 mile ride today and that puts me over 3023 for this year so far. This has been my biggest riding year also.
I need to do 17 miles today to hit the 3000 mile mark for this years riding.

Just got back from a 21 mile ride all by my lonesome. One fellow did come out for a short ride of mabe 4 miles but i did the rest by myself. Was cool at the start but warmed up fast and had to shed the jacket.

Went down to Hope Indiana for the annual ride and i got in a 37 mile ride. My son was still working on his 100 mile loop when we left for home. It sure did turn out to be nice day but very windy afternoon.

Sure is windy out there today. So i went for a short ride of 11 miles here in my neighborhood as most of it was out of the windy stuff.
Got out this morning for a ride and when i got back home i had 29.2 on my speedometer. A Iittle breeze from the south west so was nice on the east and north runs as i could putt along at 13 to 15 but on the west runs it was hard to keep at 13mph. Have turned 2803 on my log book for the year so far.

Just got back from a 43 mile ride with my son. This is the furthest i have ridden on my new to me recumbent EZ Sport CX I bought on Labor Day. I put 157 on it this week so think i will keep it for a while. :) Keep on riding people.

Yes it was another good ride on the Wabash River Ride. # of us rode the 35 mile route. Great snacks at the sag stop also. Grandaughter loved the watermelon also. The Recumbent worked out well on this ride and am going to buy one in the near future.

Loved the Wabash River Ride today.. We went ahead and did 108 miles just so we could chow down at a few more sag stops. The watermelon at the Fountain stop was the best of the year. Loved the chocolate chip oatmeal cookies at the loop intersection. And the jalapeno cornbread with massive doses of honey hit the spot back at the Fort.
Anyone going to Lafayette to the Wabash Valley River bike ride tomorrow. 3 of us from here in Crawfordsville that i know of are going. I will have on a bright orange shirt and riding a recumbent. Mite not see this in the am so say hi if ya see me.
Got out today and road into town and on the way back stopped at our local airport for a break and watched a crop duster come in for a fill up of what ever he was doing and took off again to where ever. Got home with 22.5 miles on the speedometer. I have borrowed a recumbent from a friend to try out. My average time has gone up and my speed has gone up also so am beginning to think i just mite get me one.

Dan, Just back from the Wed. ride to Franklin McDonalds SAG. We get there about 9:30. Gave up on Franklin Road and now head South on Mithoeffer to Clark School, Ulmey Road, then over I 65 to Mc D. Gave up on Greensburg Road because of the chip&seal. Have added on the extra miles via Boggstown and London. So many rides and so little time ! The rained out Red Bud Rambler is on the 25th. Really fantastic GT ride. Randy & Connie are great ride leaders. Lots of big climbs; at least they seem big on the tandem. Did the ride out of Clifty Falls last week to Streamcliff Farms. Had a few hills there as well. See you up the road, Ian
@Ian Seecof, would love to meet you. I host a CIBA ride Thursdays at 6:15pm from our shop downtown Franklin on a similar route. Didn't even know about your rides. Chipseal (chips, anyway) on both N/S roads at once is a bit annoying, but hopefully they'll be sealed soon.
Just returned from the BGI South's Rest and Recovery ride that starts on the south side of Indy. Good bunch of riders. 28 miles
I borrowed a Sun recumbent from a friend that hasen't been riding because he is having some pains from nerve damage he thinks. I rode it 5 miles yesterday getting things adjusted to fit me. Today i went out with Phil for a ride and when we got home had 30.6 so i logged in a 35 mile ride for today. Phil said my average speed went up from 11 to 12 mph average overall. I rode a little faster over all also so i am pleased with how it rode and performed also. Am going to ride it for a while and see how it performs over a week or so and go from there. I just mite have to get one if i can scrape up some money.
It was a beautiful day for a ride out in the country side. Went with Phil and Gary to Ladaga to meet up with Ron and Kathy and Traci. We rode down to North Salem and stopped at the store-gas station for a cold drink and a snack. We were 25 miles from home at this point. Rode 32 miles back home and had 57 on my speedo when we got back home. Gary left us at 44 miles and went on out and made another loop to get in a 65 miler for his day. Was a great day for puttsing around the country side.
Rain is almost to Crawfordsville now. Just got back from a 21 mile ride and wind is picking up at 11 out of ssw now. Hope we get lots of rain.
We have developed a new route for the CIBA Franklin Trainer Ride. The road"improvements" along our age-old route have inspired new scenery while reducing traffic dramatically. Short option still available for those with commitments. Otherwise 35-40 miles with longer options. Mon/Wed/Fri. Usually 6-12 riders at 14-16 mph average. Limitless country roads, great conversations, sprint the overpasses if you like. No one dropped. Faster riders go on ahead. SAG at Mc Donalds.
Was a foggy start to the day here but its burning off. Went out and got in a 22 mile ride this am with Phil. Nice weather for riding.
Sunday was a rest day - 58 miles on Saturday - and 231 mile (with 8 commutes) in the prior 7 days! (But Sunday was 4 hours of hiking with family in Shades State Park!)

The Goat Ride in Brown County was awesome today. Only got in three of the four loops, but rode an equivalent distance for the last one when I got home with the whole family. What a great day on the bike!
23 miles this morning with 15 of my fellow Fort Wayne cyclists, just on the trails through town. We are so fortunate to have so many great places to ride!

Just came back from cycling 32 miles with the Juvenile Diabetes group riding out of the south west side of Indianapolis. Great group of riders who encourage each other on the hills.
Gary and Phil and i went out for a ride this morning and there was no wind to start out with. I had 32.352 when i got home. At the 25 mile mark i gave out a whoop for the 2000 miles i have ridden this year. I had been wondering why i was so tired. :) Keep on riding people as its good for ya.
Its hard to have a month off of work and be able to ride a ton of miles only to return to the normal life of 20-30 mile a day. I really felt I was getting back in to great shape...the before kids kind of shape...July I miss you already...

Phil and i went out for a ride this am in the cool of the day at 64degs. Got back home and i had in a 27 miler. Was good riding today as not much of a breeze at all if any out of the sse. This puts me at over 1900 miles for the year on my log book

Just got back from a 22 mile ride. Took the short route today as it was looking like rain which we need anyhow. Had a few sprinkles on the way back to home but not enough to get wet. It looked like the clouds parted and the rain went right around us.
Finally got a long ride in that put me over the 500 mark. Thank you very much to the anonymous rider in the white CIBA jersey who kept pace with me from Broad Ripple to about 96th street. I really needed and appreciated the motivation to move!
Made 1000 miles for July. First time I've ever done that..
Took my rear wheel and flat to the bike shop and they found 2 or 3 pieces of glass in the rear tire which made the tire go flat when the air left it.
Just got back from a ride with son and Phil. I got in a 40 miler today. Just about home and rear tire went flat so had to walk the last 1/10 of a mile to home. Nap time now.
Woohoo! I achieved Platinum level. Got a 30 mile ride in with dad today and an addition 1.6 miles in with my 3 year old. She wanted to ride her bike so I followed her on mine as she rode around our block twice. She was wooohoooing and weeeeeee'ing and quite a bit of the way. She'll be out riding her daddy and grandpa ome of these days. lol
There is another CIBA group called CIBA HOOTs that still has slots open if you want to try that one.
There are two different CIBA groups because the maximum number of members per group is 10. You will have to find a group that does not have the max 10 members. Only July and forward workouts count as the deadline for entering workouts in a month is midnight on the last day of the month; at least that is my understanding.
Does anyone know why there are two different CIBA groups? (I'm a CIBA member but haven't figured out how to join groups yet, and don't know which one is which.) Thanks.
Rain ride 2012 was awesome this year. Great Weather for riding, 4 friends and I all finished the 160 miles with time to spare. Had a great time, good pace, and a awesome SAG Driver Thanks SAG Lady we could not have done it with out your support.

My points from May were put on Elkhart-Goshen ...I live in South Bend-Mishawaka I corrected it in June and all points from that point have been added correctly..Didn't seem like much back then.. But, Now South Bend-Mishawakais in second place and another 1832 points could make a difference at the end.. anyone know if it can be corrected and how

Hot weather has slowed down my miles over the last couple weeks.
Got in a 28 mile ride this am and it sure is warming right up out there. Not much of a wind so was pretty nice riding.
Phil, I’m on the west side and I only ride to get myself ready for races and its nice to have daytime off in the summer for long rides. I would love to ride to work everyday if the wife would let me put the kids in the trailer.
Got out a little bit earlier today and the temps was 76 but is now 94 so its gonna be another hot one. Got in 26 miles after i got back from sons house after stopping and letting his dog out for a pee run at noon. Drink lots of fluids folks when out and about.
Got a late start today with temps in the 80s when i started and in the 90s when i got home but i did get in a 22.3 mile ride. Drank 2 bottles of Gaterade also.
It helps that I commute 30 miles 3-4 days per week. I ride mostly northeast Indy if you are in the neighborhood. I'll ride with anyone that pulls the whole ride :)

Tomorrow will be a much needed day off. Raced in the masters 35 plus last week had a race average of 27.6mph and it hurt ended up 8th out of 50 guys rode a short recovery ride Sunday to get ready for a 120 mile ride on Monday then 50 miles Tues,Wed,Thurs...my legs are dead....Bob you keep missing a great ride with us!

Went out today for a 29 mile ride with son. Got my Hybred out as been riding the wifes Sun 3 wheeler. Have to get out in the am again on the wifes trike as no one else can ride tomorrow.
Got the wifes Sun 3 wheeler out for another ride today as no one else went. Got home with 22.4 on the ole speedometer. Not the best of hill climbers but i made all the small ones i came across and a couple are longer and drawen out. O well it was a nice day for a ride as its a lot cooler this week.
Took my wifes Sun 3 wheeler this am for my morning ride. It was nice and cool out today for a change. Got in 24.2 today. Stopped and visited with a guy and let him ride the 3 wheeler and he liked it. His wife came out and looked at it also, so maybe they get one.
Great ride this morning, a www.rainride.org tune up - 55 miles in 3:07 - non-stop & solo. Nice to have cool breezes rather than a blast furnace. Only 2 weeks to go.
Went out on the wifes Sun 3 wheeler this am for a short ride around the neighborhood and got in a 10.4. Temps are not going to be so high today. Its nice not to have a seat stuck up yer butt and not leaning on my arms but also is a little heaver than my Hybred so i didn't ride as fast either but thats ok as not going anywhere in a big hurry either.
Just made my first MTB trip out to a local gentlemans "ranch". Been about 8 years since I've been on a MTB trail that challenging. Looking forward to more trips out. He has a pretty sweet layout with room to expand. One of these days I'll be able to do the trail Bo ways.
3 of us went out at 9 and got in another 30 miles. Think the temps have gone up about 12 degs or so sense we started. Be sure and drink plenty of fluids when you got out in the heat.
With the hot weather, I'm glad my morning commute is early enough to be a reasonably comfortable ride! Looks like waking up early on Sat/Sun is the ticket for getting it done this weekend. Be safe, everyone!
first week with consistent 15 mile rides and the knees aren't complaining too much ! But they used to hurt at 8 miles, so I am making progress. Supposed to be 107 today so got up at 6 a.m. to get it done. Feeling good

Boy we sure could use a lot of rain. I would not care if it rained for a week. Got out this am for a 27 mile ride with son and Phil. We started about 9 am and temps was 75 and now its up to 84 and suppose to get into the 90s again today.
Got out this morning before the heat came up and got in 27 with Phil. Got home in time for subs that wife had made for lunch. Going in to park this evening if not storming to play a round of disc golf,
We got up at 4:00am, from Greencastle, left the house at 5:30 and rode 35 miles to Panera in Plainfield, had breakfast, and then rode home before the real heat started....good 70 mile ride!
3 of us went over to Ill for a bike ride on Saturday. Mackinaw Valley Vineyard Tour just south of Pekin Ill. 2nd year for this ride and was well set up and put on. Had a great dinner after the ride also and great band. Will put this on our calendar for next year.

Went out this am for a ride and only got to 15 and had a flat tire so had to walk back almost a mile after the son went and got the truck. Now i have to change a tube before going to Ill for a bike ride tomorrow.
106, made it home okay, poured half my water down my back and over my head on the way, but not too bad.
Hit the road after work at 101 degrees. 1.5 miles out with 15-20 mile winds. I enjoy my rides everyday. But, not today. About face head back to the air conditioning.
We missed the nite ride this year, but will try and make it next year for sure its a fun ride.
I was a course marshal at waterway and Indiana, telling people to stay right as cars were coming west on indiana while riders were turning right to go east. Was a fun time.
The NITE Ride was a great ride!!! What a feeling to see all those riders out there enjoying the ride!!! Wish it never ended!!!
My husband, oldest son, neice and I did the Indy NITE ride dinner ride to Broad Ripple and then stayed for the NITE ride. Awesome night for a ride!
We doubled up too: my wife Peg was a Zombie, and I worked a 6-hour volunteer shift, and then we took the tandem on the NITE ride that evening. Survived without too much trauma!
I'm hurting from doing the Run For Your Lives zombie infested 5k (I was a zombie) and then the NITE Ride on Saturday. Did anyone else double up and pay for it?

It was another nice day for a ride with My son and Grandaughter . Jessica rides in a trailer behind dad and slow him down enough that i can keep up with them. Got in a 27 mile ride today with a slight tail wind on the way home.
Got out with son Gary and friend Phill for another 26 miler this am. The temps are down and so is the wind today. We have added small loop to our ride so now we are getting 26 instead of 23 and is a good loop to ride. We have a few routes that give us more but we doin't do them all the time.
Whew! Got home just in time to avoid the wind storm. The wind really picked up in the last half mile and there was dust flying everywhere! It seems pretty calm now. We need the rain and that was such a tease!
Went out riding this am with Phil and got in a 26 mile ride by time we got back home. Wind was at 14mph when we got home also and we rode into it for part of the ride and it sure was slow going.
Almost at my 500 point mark, working my way up.
Went out with my son Gary and got in a 23 mile ride and the wind was rough on the way back home but we did make it. Got passed by a young fellow that has passed us the last 2 time we have made this route ride. Its warming up really good out there so keep hydrated good. I am up to 1140 on my log book now for this years riding.
It's a warm one out there. Hope everyone stays well hydrated. I know I did.

Charles, Yes that was me It was just us two working the event in the track. I loved watching the event. i was so happy when I was told I could get my bike and ride... I wish all roads were that smooth...lol
Ok Brent thanks for all the help. I saw a couple of officers walk up in the area of the start finsh line and not sure if it was mabe you and another officer. I was wearing a bright blue shirt and i was around the area talking with the yellow shirt guys a lot that day also and a lot of folks that were riding at the track. I had a brother with the middle name of (dawes). I got in another 23 mile ride today with My son and another friend Phil. Thanks for the reply Brent.

Charles, Im a police officer and was working security. I was just walking around the track and I helped get the riders out of the track on Georgetown Road.
Just got done with a 23.87 mile ride. Did 20 with Phil and 3 more when i met up with my wife and grandson out on her 6 mile ride. Where were you working at Brent as i was with my son Gary watching as he did the 100 miler on the track and i was at the start finish line all day.
I was working at the Tour de Cure this weekend and it was really hard not to want to ride...so I did great event!

Did the century at the Brickyard Tour de Cure yesterday. According to the news, there were over 1500 riders doing one of the 4 different ride options in yesterday's tour. Was a good ride and met several riders from around the state and country. Look forward to next years tour.
Went to the Indy 500 track for the Tour D cure ride and was pit man for my son who did the 100 mile challange. Took a lot of photos while there and saw some really nice bikes that i cannot afford.

Brent, I don't think there's a manual entry for speed averages. If you're using the Endomondo app to track your distances, it will tally your average speed in your profile. But I'm sure carrying a smart phone isn't very practical for a race :)
Alright Brent the last week of June I will be off and will be there! I can do 23 if I am always at the back, 28 is another story but I will ride with you guys the first few until I get popped!

We all have kids to pick up so most days its about 25-30 miles with around 23-28mph average speed not including warm-up/cool-down. How do you log speed for your workouts? I raced Friday and had an average of 27mph it was a hard race. I log my miles but not sure how to log average rates of speed. Rode over 1,143 miles in May, Will see if that is enough for the 24 hour challange in Michigan June 16th.
Bad calf muscle strain yesterday while doing Fort Ben Mountain bike trail (hate that *&^%$#@ concrete slab obstacle!)...hopefully only out for a few days. :(

Too bad my 700+ miles in May will not count. I was cycling across Yucatan, Belize, Guatemala and Quintana Roo April 25th-May 25th and missed the May entry. Since other CIBA teams are full already, I have started another CIBA team for HOOTS Tandem riders.
One of our teammates put about 300 miles in the other day and he logged them on each day that he rode and his points didn't update and they still haven't a couple of days later any suggestions as to why? He finished May with 511 and has 498 points which is way off with the bonus 20 for each day he logged.
Well 3 of us went and rode a 35 mile ride at the B. & O. Trail ride today and it sure was windy but we made it with out any troubles.
Just finished the B&O ride! Windy but nice tailwind all the way back. Nice temps for this ride!
My co-worker and I have been trying to commute to work at least one day a week. We started on Bike to Work Day, We are hoping to continue to do this each week. It is going to be hard because it gets hot and humid in IN and our office has no showers. But we are still going to try to stick to it.
Anyone doing the B & O trail ride on the Saturday June 2nd. I think 3 of us from Crawfordsville are going to ride it. Have been over to ride on the Cardinal Greenway Trail 2 times this year.

CIBA has all kinds of rides to meet people to ride with and there is a very strong ciba presence North of Indy. I ride a red specialized bike. See you there maybe.

Once you get commuting regularly, it feels strange when you have to drive. Love that feeling.
I ride to work twice a week around 38-40 miles round trip depending on my route. Just got clips on my commuter this week :) It is helping!

I ride 2 times a week to work as I have to get up at 2:40 am to do it. My commute is 61.5 miles round trip.
Man - you take two days off and down in the rankings you go! I knew I should have risked the weather yesterday.
I commute almost everyday to work except when temps are low and nasty outside. Average total distance between all the different routes I take is 10 miles. Been saving much gas.
I've been in Indy since September and rode the lonely trails and roads all winter to work. It was so great to see so many people out last Friday! I ride to the Fairgrounds for work nearly everyday and would welcome company. If you interested in meeting up around 86th Street, let me know. I'd love to have some new friends and more company than my music!
I also rode to and from work every day this week. My car is so lonely in the garage also.
Fantastic day for Bike To Work day. Never saw so many bikes on the Monon South of the Fairgrounds. Awesome.

I wholeheartedly agree! I commuted to work everyday this week, including today. I've never been able to do that before! The weather has definitely made a difference.

My favorite perk of commuting is meeting other cyclists on the way to and from work. Most are friendly enough to say hello, or have a conversation.

I just started commuting to work. I feel lucky to have the opportunity to use my bike instead of my car. I find myself riding to the store for groceries now too.
I hope to log 1000 miles this year. I can deal with rain, (no lightning please) and I can ride until the temp drops below 30. I wouldn't mind logging my running miles and hitting 1000 miles running also.
For my miles in 2012 so far, I'm just under 500 miles..
The 1,000 mile goal has my passion since 1985. Still today I easily break that goal every year, except in 2008 when I had cancer. I'm back going strong. Planning a loaded 3 day 2 night tour starting June 1st, 2012.
My goal is to use my four bikes as much as humanly possible this year!
